Bay KeramiK -1933-1980
Bay Keramik was founded in 1933 by Eduard Bay in Ransbach Baumbach, in the ceramics-producing region of West Germany.
Bay manufactured decorative and everyday ceramics, initially in terracotta, and later, in 1936, in glazed ceramics.
Designers Josef Koch and Bodo Mans collaborated with Bay Keramik in the 1950s and 1960s respectively.
In 1970, Bay patented the Römertopf - a clay pot that works by steaming food and allowing it to be braised in its own juices, and is considered the healthiest way to prepare meals.
Some sources claim that, in 1971/2, Bay ceased to exist and changed its name to Römertopf, producing only clay pots. However, this information is not correct. Bay Keramik continued to produce decorative ceramics until the 1980s.
